Last Updated: April 2, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using Socket, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
Socket is operated by Socket Study (ABN 71 405 901 933).
2. Service Description
Socket is an exam preparation platform operated by Socket Study, designed to help healthcare professionals prepare for their specialty examinations. Socket is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any medical college, training body, or examination authority.
3. Study Aid Disclaimer
Socket is a study aid only. Content on this platform does not constitute medical advice, clinical guidance, or professional recommendations. You should not rely on Socket content as a substitute for professional judgement, clinical training, or advice from qualified practitioners.
We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any content. You are solely responsible for how you use the information provided.
4. AI-Assisted Content
Socket uses AI services (including Anthropic and Google Gemini) to assist in drafting question content and explanations. All AI-assisted content is reviewed by doctors in training before publication.
If you identify a medical or factual error in any content, please report it to [email protected]. Reported errors will be investigated and corrected within 5–10 business days.
5. Subscriptions and Payment
Socket offers monthly, 6-month, and 12-month subscription plans. All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD).
- Monthly plans renew automatically each month. You may cancel at any time and retain access until the end of your current billing period.
- 6-month plans renew automatically every 6 months. You may cancel at any time and retain access until the end of your current billing period.
- 12-month plans renew automatically every 12 months. You may cancel at any time and retain access until the end of your current billing period. 12-month plans include the Pass Guarantee (Section 8).
- Founders pricing is available to users who signed up on or before March 21, 2026. Founders pricing is locked in for the life of your subscription but is lost if you cancel.
If a payment fails, access is suspended immediately. There is no grace period.
Price changes: We may change subscription prices at any time. Price changes take effect at your next renewal. We will give you at least 30 days' notice before any price increase. Founders pricing is exempt from price changes as described above.
6. Free Trial
New users may be offered a free trial period. During the trial, access may be limited. At the end of the trial, you must subscribe to continue using the platform.
7. Refunds and Cancellations
7.1 Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law. If our service fails to meet a consumer guarantee, you are entitled to a remedy regardless of this refund policy.
7.2 Monthly Plan
You may cancel your monthly subscription at any time. Access continues until the end of your current billing period. No partial refund is provided for the remaining days in that period.
7.3 6-Month and 12-Month Plans — Cooling-Off Period
You may request a full refund of your initial payment within 7 days of subscribing to a 6-month or 12-month plan, for any reason. Your subscription will be cancelled immediately. To request a cooling-off refund, email [email protected] within the 7-day window.
7.4 6-Month and 12-Month Plans — After Cooling-Off
After the 7-day cooling-off period, no refund is available. Your access continues for the remainder of your plan. 12-month plan subscribers may also be eligible for a refund under the Pass Guarantee (Section 8).
7.5 Plan Changes
To change your plan, contact [email protected].
7.6 Refund Process
All refund requests should be sent to [email protected]. Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days and returned to the original payment method via Stripe.
8. Pass Guarantee (12-Month Plan)
The 12-month subscription plan includes a pass guarantee. If you meet all of the following conditions and do not pass your nominated exam, you are entitled to a full refund of your 12-month plan payment.
Eligibility:
- You must be subscribed to the 12-month plan (standard or founders pricing). Monthly and 6-month subscribers are not eligible.
- You must have completed 90% or more of the questions available for your nominated exam. "Completed" means the question has been answered at least once, regardless of whether the answer was correct. The question bank is measured as the number of questions available at the time your subscription started — questions added after your subscription start date do not change this number.
- Your exam must be sat within 18 months of your subscription start date.
Making a claim:
- Email [email protected] with proof of failure: a screenshot, PDF, or forwarded official result showing your name and the fail outcome.
- Your claim must be submitted within 30 days of receiving your result.
Refund:
- You will receive a full refund of the amount you paid for your 12-month plan, returned to the original payment method via Stripe.
- The refund does not cover any separate charges (e.g. monthly subscription charges after the 12-month period expired).
- One claim per 12-month subscription. If you resubscribe for another 12-month plan and meet all conditions again, you may claim again.
Below 90% — free extension:
- If you failed your exam but completed less than 90% of your question bank, you are not eligible for a refund. However, your subscription will be extended free of charge through the next scheduled sitting of your exam after the date of your fail result.
- The extension is capped at a maximum of 12 months from the date of your fail result.
- This is a one-time courtesy — no further refund or extension is available after the extended period.
Exclusions:
- Exam sat outside the 18-month window from subscription start.
- Claim submitted more than 30 days after receiving the fail result.
- Monthly and 6-month subscribers.
- Users on a free extension who fail again.
9. Referral Program
Socket may offer a referral program allowing existing users to invite others to the platform.
9.1 Referred User Discount
New users who sign up with a valid referral code receive a $10 AUD account credit applied to their first invoice. One code per signup. The credit is non-transferable and has no cash value.
9.2 Referrer Reward
When a referred user maintains an active paid subscription for at least 7 days, the referring user receives a $10 AUD account credit applied to their next invoice. If the referred user cancels within 7 days, no reward is issued.
9.3 General Conditions
- Referral credits are non-transferable and have no cash value. Credits cannot be redeemed for cash or transferred to another account.
- Socket Study reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the referral program at any time without notice.
- Abuse of the referral program (including self-referrals, fake accounts, or any fraudulent activity) may result in forfeiture of credits and account suspension.
10. Promotional Codes
Socket may offer promotional codes through partner organisations, societies, or other channels.
- Promotional codes provide an account credit applied to the new user's first invoice. The credit amount is specified at the time of the promotion.
- One promotional or referral code may be used per signup. Promotional codes cannot be combined with referral codes.
- Promotional codes are non-transferable and have no cash value.
- Socket Study reserves the right to deactivate any promotional code at any time.

- Interfere with or disrupt the service
- Copy, modify, or distribute content without permission
13. Termination and Suspension
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you breach these Terms, including the Acceptable Use rules in Section 12. If your account is terminated for breach, no refund is provided.
14. Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality on Socket are owned by Socket Study and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. If you have any concerns about content on the platform, please contact us at [email protected].
15. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law:
- Socket is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any content is accurate or complete.
- Our total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, regardless of the cause of action.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable Australian Consumer Law.
16. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will give you at least 30 days' notice of material changes via email.
